Our Trip back in October 2025
I knew that the gondola experience was part of the tour with Globus, so we held off on doing it until the first day of the tour. When we were in St. Mark's Square, our tour guide walked us to the main loading dock for many a gondola. We waited in line as our tour group was put in boats, four at a time.
When it finally came time for Dean and I to step on the boat, we were the second group on so we had to sit apart from one another. Me on the left side of the boat and Dean on the upper right. One of the ladies we were with was very afraid of the boat tipping, I offered her a valium which she didn't take but could have.
The ride started and we ventured out into the grand canal, where the boat got a little rocky. Soon we were in calmer waters, navigating our way through a small canal between buildings and under a bridge. It was cloudy and had been raining that morning, but by the end of our ride the sun had come out and it was warm.
My only regret in Venice is that we didn't do this on our own. It would have been so romantic. It's also very memorable and well worth the cost. This experience would have been perfect.
